HELP US GIVE VISUAL VOICE TO LOCAL STORIES

CAPE and the Mississippi Museum of Art have announced a series of community-engaged art projects across the state from 2018-2020. In the form of artist residencies, CAPE will fund the creation of artworks that and build deeper understanding and honor personal truths about Mississippi people and places.

Mississippi narrative is winding, broad, and deep. History and legacy inform our contemporary lives , from the oral traditions passed through the generations, to the marked and unmarked sites that echo movements and moments that preceded us, to the tall-tales and mythic fictions that color our views of the world.

What Mississippi stories define your experience?

In addition to inspiring CAPE projects, stories shared and gathered will also inform the Mississippi Museum of Art’s broader work of exploring the state and its people through art in future programs, exhibitions, and initiatives.
